Rebecca came in to our Guildford coffee shop about 2 years ago, promoting her wonderful handmade cupcakes. Since then we’ve worked with Beccy and her team to provide our customers with the most delicious cupcakes in Guildford.

We recently caught up with Rebecca (over a coffee of course) to talk about ‘Rebecca’s Cupcakes’.

How did Rebecca’s cupcakes start?
I had enjoyed baking and cake making for years but it usually just involved filling the tummies of friends and family! Then in August 2008 a good friend asked me to create her wedding cakes – the number of guests asking me for a business card at the wedding is what first put the idea in my head of turning my hobby into something more. Once I had made the decision to start up my own business it took off very quickly – I didn’t realise Surrey loved cake so much! Rebecca’s Cupcakes has now been in business for almost 6 years and we’re still as passionate about our products as we’ve ever been.

Where are you based?
After almost 5 years in Compton we moved to our current location on the Surrey/Hampshire border in March 2013.

What’s been your proudest moment to date?
There are so many moments I am proud of! If I had to choose one it would have to be reaching the final of the National Cupcake Championships 2012 with our ‘Raspberry Ripple’ cupcake.

Do you have a favourite cake to make?
I love making our Strawberries & Cream layer cake, a Coffee Culture favourite in the summer months! The smell of the freshly baked sponge and fresh strawberries with vanilla buttercream is just heavenly.

If you could make a cake for anyone, who would it be for and what would you make?
I would love to make a Coffee & Walnut cake for Masterchef’s Greg Wallace. I love how he describes good food and I would love to hear him say he wants to dive into one of my cakes!

What’s your favourite menu/drink item from Coffee Culture?
It has to be their Latte, no contest.  Just the right amount of great coffee with smooth, creamy milk. Perfect.
